Musicians come from around the world to listen, audition, and compete. Performances take place on the streets, and in various venues throughout the city. Sep 6-23 Zacatecas Feria Nacional Zacatecas - National Fair A fair lasting two weeks with musical performances, amusement rides for children, theater performances, and an assortment of regional cuisine.   Sep 21 Chichen Itza Yucatan Fall Equinox As at the Spring Equinox, the angle of the setting sun makes a serpent appear on the steps of the Pyramid in Chichen Itz, a Mayan archaeological site in the Yucatan peninsula. Sep 23 San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato San Miguelada or "Pamplonada" This is Mexico's imitation of Spain's running of the bulls in Pamplona, often called the Pamplonada, the San Miguelada is an annual festival in honor of Saint Michael Archangel. The event involves parades, dances, concerts, fireworks and bulls running through town. Oct 6 - Nov 4 Guadalajara Jalisco Fiestas de Octubre - Octoberfest A month-long event involving concerts, dances, cultural exhibits and food, attracting visitors and performers from all over the world. Oct 3-7 Playa del Carmen Quintana Roo Riviera Maya Underground Film Festival Playa del Carmen will host the Riviera Maya film festival, now in its second year. Various local, national and international films are shown in select theaters throughout the city. Films screened belong to one of four categories: Documentary, Animation, Experimental and Fiction. Throughout the festival, there are also different workshops and conferences on cinematography and filmmaking offered. Oct 19 - Nov 4 Aguascalientes Festival de las Calaveras - Festival of the Skulls Skulls of different sizes and materials will be on display as well as stands with traditional food and seasonal fruit. Altars in honor of the dead, diverse artistic and cultural shows and a skeleton parade and "living altar" are all part of the events planned. Nov 8-18 Puerta Vallarta Jalisco International Gourmet Festival Twenty-four of Puerto Vallarta's finest restaurants will participate in this year's gourmet festival. Now in its thirteenth year, the festival has attracted some of the top names in global gastronomy. Participants will attend cooking classes, learn about wine pairing, taste the newest and best in both wines and tequila, and dine out in the finest restaurants offering unique and tantalizing menus. Nov 8-11 Rocky Point Sonora Rocky Point Rally LA motorcycle event that raises money for various charities. This year's festivities will include a poker run, various biker competitions, stunt shows, and parties. Rare Earth will be performing in concert on November 10th. Nov 10-24 Morelia Michoacan International Music Festival This annual festival features performances by musicians from all over the world and takes place in beautiful settings throughout Morelia. Now in its 19th year, this year's edition is dedicated to the European Union. Nov 20 Mexico Día de la Revolucion - Revolution Day Throughout Mexico, November 20th marks the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. Parades, celebrations, fireworks, music and dance throughout the country. Nov 29 - Dec 1 Playa del Carmen Quintana Roo Riviera Maya Jazz Festival Playa del Carmen will host major national and international jazz musicians who will perform under the stars, at the Mamitas Beach Club. This year's lineup includes Marcus Miller, Los Dorados, George Benson and Sacbe. Nov 30 - Dec 8 Taxco Guerrero Feria Nacional de Plata - National Silver Fair Top craftsmen, artists and silversmiths compete for prizes in this festival which includes concerts, dances, fireworks and a huge range of silver items for sale. The festival showcases the amazing depth and breadth of Taxco's silver industry. Dec 12 Mexico City Fiesta of the Virgin of Guadalupe The main Virgin of Guadalupe celebrations take place just outside Mexico City, where thousands of pilgrims converge on the Basilica de Guadalupe to pay tribute to Mexico's patron saint. The square in front of the Basilica is a stage for singing, dancing and celebration.
